During our travels in Germany, we had a pit stop to the quaint little village of Oberammergau. What is special about this village is that some of the houses have paintings of fairy tales and biblical times. Can you recognise the fairytales or stories below?
This little town is so devoted to the Catholic faith that they create what is called the “Passion Play”, which represents the life of Jesus Christ; his trial, suffering and death. The Passion Play involves the entire village and is only re-enacted once every 10 years. So, if you’re interested, the next one is in 2020!
Do you know of any other places with a fairy tale theme?

Probably won’t make it there for the next play but what a great painting!
haha thanks John. I agree that the paintings are fantastic!
Isn’t Oberammergau interesting. The whole town is just like on the fringe of reality.
Absolutely! I love visiting quaint little towns like Oberammergau. There is always something special about them.
I hope i make it 2020. Never been there. But your photos make me want to go!
I hope you make it there too!
Cool! I didn’t know that existed, but now I definitely would love to go someday.
You can visit this place as part of a lot of castle tours from Munich. Hope you make it there some day
Don’t you just love all the painted buildings…they are especially beautiful when the sun shines brightly on them.
Absolutely! I love how the art tells a story.
